Lake Region Conference athletes soared to prime positions in this week’s Class B track and field leaders following their performances at the Dial-A-Move Last Chance meet in Warner on Wednesday.
Ipswich’s Kyle Hettich moved from second to first in the 100-meter dash after his :10.80 time at the meet. Hettich also leads the 200-meter dash.
Warner’s Chays Mansfield took over the top spot in the pole vault with a leap of 13-1.
Northwestern is now second in the girls’ medley relay after clocking a time of 4:19.47, while the Aberdeen Christian boys climbed up to second in the 400-meter relay after recording a time of :44.01.
Other area athletes who are leading open events are Castlewood’s Brody Bass who is first in the 110 hurdles, Leola’s Jacob Kindelspire who is first in the shot put, Northwestern’s Ty Boekelheide who leads the triple jump, Faulkton’s Spencer Melius who tops the javelin, Ella Boekelheide of Northwestern who leads the 800, 1,600 and 3,200, Ipswich’s Jalyssa Hutson who leads the pole vault, and the Ipswich girls’ 3,200-meter relay team.
Other area boys among the leaders include Melius who is second in the 110 hurdles and fourth in the 300 hurdles, Dylan Hofer of Aberdeen Christian who is second in the triple jump and third in the long jump, Ipswich’s Brody Davis who is second in the pole vault, Ipswich’s Tate Hogie who is third in the discus, Faulkton’s Weston Senn who is third in the javelin, Beckham Cantalope of Warner who is fourth in the 110 hurdles and sixth in the 300 hurdles, Tyson Schumacher of Herreid-Selby Area who is fourth in the triple jump followed by Logan LaBrie of Hitchcock-Tulare in sixth and Hudson Barber of Sully Buttes in eighth, Marty Mickelson of Waverly-South Shore who is fourth in the javelin followed by Jett Yackley of Sully Buttes who is seventh, LaBrie who is fifth in the 100 followed by Hofer in seventh, Warner’s Easton Bruns who is fifth in the pole vault followed by Jared Wherry of North Central in eighth, LaBrie who is seventh in the 200, Kadyn Westergren of Sully Buttes who is seventh in the shot put, Aberdeen Christian’s Luke Kaiser who is eighth in the 110 hurdles, Easton Moore of Sully Buttes who is eighth in the discus, and Warner’s Jesiah Baum who is eighth in the long jump.

Other girls’ relay teams in the leaders are Ipswich which is fourth in the medley and seventh in the 1,600, Warner which is sixth in the 400, seventh in the 3,200, and eighth in the 800, Wolsey-Wessington which is sixth in the medley, Langford Area which is eighth in the 400, and Gettysburg which is eighth in the 3,200.
