MITCHELL – The Aberdeen Swim Club added two more swimmers to their sectional cuts during the 13 and Over State Long Course Swim Meet last weekend in Mitchell.
Heading to sectionals March 12-15 in West Fargo, N.D. are Easton Ketterling, Quinton Anderson, and Lula Karst.
Ketterling qualified in the 200 IM, 400 IM, 100 Back, 200 Back, and 100 Breast, Anderson qualified in the 200 Butterfly, and Karst qualified in the 100 Breast. Ketterling won the 200 IM at the state meet.
The Stingrays finished third in girls’ team points and fifth in boys’ team points.
“Overall, this weekend the kids swam amazing, almost all our swimmers ended up with PRs in their races,” said ASC coach Darien Street. “Kids were knowledgeable and aware of their race strategies and technique, critiquing themselves as well as taking correction from coaches. They transferred from prelims to finals racing mindset almost flawlessly, correcting mistakes and swimming races differently than they did in the morning.”

The Stingrays had to overcome some air quality issues, but did not let the conditions impact their performances.
“They rallied and pushed through, still swimming better and continuing to swim best times,” Street said.
