The final acts of the regular season took place last week for Class A boys’ basketball teams and now the curtain is going up on the postseason.
As last week’s girls’ regions showed, learn to expect the unexpected. Seeding means extremely little as underdogs try to become might dogs and advance to next week’s SoDak 16 round.
Here is a look at each region involving area squads:
Region 1A
Tuesday and Friday
While Groton owns wins over every team in the region by at least 20 points, there is reason for hope for some squads here to try and reach the SoDak 16.
Sisseton and Milbank are in Groton’s half of the bracket. The other side appears wide open as Webster and Britton-Hecla have identical records, and Aberdeen Roncalli defeated Britton-Hecla during the regular season.
Teams W L
Groton 16-4
Webster 12-8
Britton-Hecla 12-8
Sisseton 11-9
Milbank 11-9
Aberdeen Roncalli 7-13
Redfield 3-17
Tuesday’s Games: Milbank at Sisseton, 7 p.m.; Groton, bye; Redfield at Webster, 7 p.m.; Aberdeen Roncalli at Britton-Hecla, 7 p.m.
Friday’s Games: Milbank/Sisseton winner at Groton; Redfield/Webster winner vs. Aberdeen Roncalli/Britton-Hecla winner at highest seed.
Region 2A
Tuesday and Friday
Life is crowded at the top of this region.

Clark-Willow Lake and Hamlin have been rated among the top five squads all season and will be favored to return to the state tournament again.
However, Sioux Valley is a dangerous foe and could have an interesting semifinal matchup against Hamlin if both reach that contest. Hamlin won a previous matchup by just three points.
Teams W L
Clark-Willow Lake 18-2
Hamlin 17-3
Sioux Valley 14-6
Elkton-Lake Benton 12-8
Great Plains Lutheran 7-13
Deuel 7-13
Florence-Henry 3-16
Tuesday’s Games: Great Plains Lutheran at Elkton-Lake Benton, 7 p.m.; Clark-Willow Lake, bye; Florence-Henry at Hamlin, 7 p.m.; Deuel at Sioux Valley, 7 p.m.
Friday’s Games: Great Plains Lutheran/Elkton-Lake Benton winner at Clark-Willow Lake; Florence-Henry/Hamlin winner vs. Deuel/Sioux Valley winner at highest seed.
Region 6A
Tuesday and Friday
Stanley County and Cheyenne-Eagle Butte have both flown under the radar this season and are the top seeds in this region, although seeds might not mean much here.
Mobridge-Pollock figures to be a tough out and could be headed for a semifinal matchup against CEB.

There is only one team under .500 in the region, so every game will likely be a hard-fought, intense battle regardless of the matchups.
Teams W L
Stanley County 18-2
Cheyenne-Eagle Butte 17-3
Mobridge-Pollock 13-8
Chamberlain 11-9
Miller 10-10
Platte-Geddes 11-9
Crow Creek 3-17
Tuesday’s Games: Miller at Chamberlain, 7 p.m.; Stanley County, bye; Crow Creek at Cheyenne-Eagle Butte; Platte-Geddes at Mobridge-Pollock, 6 p.m.
Friday’s Games: Miller/Chamberlain winner at Stanley County; Crow Creek/Cheyenne-Eagle Butte winner vs. Platte-Geddes/Mobridge-Pollock winner at highest seed.
