The road to Wachs Arena and this year’s State B tournament officially starts now.
Teams across the state will need to clear hurdles along the path and the hurdles will get higher and harder to clear with each passing contest.
Regions are now at hand, with the short-term goal of advancing to next week’s SoDak16 with the ultimate destination being the Hub City.
Here is a look at each region involving area teams:
Region 1B
Tonight, Tuesday, Friday
There appears to be plenty of parity at the top half of this region.
Aberdeen Christian is the top seed and owns wins over the six region teams it faced.
There should be plenty of late-game drama in several contests here, including the Northwestern-Warner quarterfinal, and a potential semifinal matchup between Waubay-Summit and Leola-Frederick. The Titans won a previous encounter by a single point.

Aberdeen Christian 17-3
Leola-Frederick 15-5

Region 2B
Tonight, Tuesday, Friday
This is about as loaded as it gets when it comes to quality teams in one region.
Three teams (De Smet, Castlewood, and Wessington Springs) have all been rated in the top 10 throughout the season. Two others (Deubrook Area and Estelline-Hendricks) have received votes on multiple occasions. And there are two other teams with winning records.
