SIOUX FALLS – Northern State built a big lead in the first half and made it stand in the second as the Wolves claimed a 91-88 win over Augustana Saturday night in men’s Northern Sun Conference Intercollegiate basketball at the Elmen Center.

Northern opened with three straight 3-pointers – two by James Glenn – and a dunk to take the early lead, ballooning it to more than 20 points late in the half.

Augustana managed to trim that lead to a dozen by halftime, then to a single possession on a handful of occasions in the second half, but the Wolves never trailed the duration of the game.

Glenn finished with 24 points on the strength of six 3-pointers. Tobi Obiora added 15 points and Simon Akena notched 14 for the Wolves, who improved to 6-10 overall and 6-4 in NSIC play. Marshawn Smith came off the bench for 17 points.

Tameron Ferguson led Augustana with 24 points, Brady Helgren added 22 for the Vikings.

Northern is home to face Winona State and Concordia-St. Paul on Friday and Saturday, respectively.
