NSU women fall in closing seconds to Dragons

MOORHEAD, Minn. – Minnesota State Moorhead rallied from a seven-point deficit in the final five minutes and made two free throws with three seconds left to edge Northern State Thursday night.

After Izzy Moore broke a tie game with a foul shot with seven seconds left, the Dragons connected on a pair of free throws for a 77-76 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference women’s basketball win.

NSU owned a 67-60 advantage with 5:18 left, before the hosts made a late charge which eventually resulted in the two pivotal free throws at the finish.

Izzy Moore scored 29 points on 9-of-14 shooting from the field to lead the Wolves. Morgan Fiedler followed with 11 points, Megan Counts contributed 10, Taylor Tool and Reagan Rus each added nine, and Lily Klein finished with eight points and seven rebounds.

Northern is now 6-5 overall and 2-4 in the NSIC. The Wolves will wrap up action in 2025 with another league contest at Minnesota Crookston on Saturday.
