Wings fall to Bismarck in overtime

The Bismack Bobcats scored at the end overtime to grab a 5-4 win over the Aberdeen Wings in NAHL hockey action Friday night at the Odde Ice Center.

The Wings overcame a 4-2 deficit in the third period to force the extra period on goals from Charlie Burchfield and Matthew Martin.

Aberdeen led just once in the contest when Easton Edwards scored in the first minute of action.

The Bobcats responded with a pair of goals the rest of the period for a 2-1 lead. The visitors added another goal to start the second period before Aberdeen’s Sam Scheetz scored in the middle of the period to slice the margin back to a single goal.

Bismarck tacked on one more goal to close out the second period, setting the stage for the third period and overtime.

Edwards and Martin also added assists for the Wings.

Aberdeen outshot the Bobcats 38-34. Willum Braun had 29 saves in goal for the Wings.

Aberdeen owns a one-point lead over Bismarck atop the Central Division standings.

The same two teams are back at it tonight with a 7:15 puck drop at the Odde Ice Center.
