Balanced Golden Eagles sweep Pierre

PIERRE – Aberdeen Central used a balanced attack at the net and from the service line to fuel a 25-8, 25-10, 25-15 win over Pierre in Eastern South Dakota Conference volleyball action on Saturday afternoon.

During the contest, junior Lauryn Burckhard collected her 1,000th career kill.

The Golden Eagles received at least seven kills from three different players, at least nine assists from three different players, at least eight digs from four different players, and at least once ace from five different players.

“We were very efficient and really took care of the ball today,” said Central coach Jackie Bindenagel. “Our hitters ran some great routes and our setters made some nice decisions to get all of our hitters involved.”

Burckhard and Jaidyn Forsyth each had eight kills, and Kenadi Withers added seven for Central, which racked up 39 kills as a team.

Taylin Keffman had a team-leading four aces, and Kyley Wirebaugh followed with three.

Camryn Albrecht and Alivia Miller each collected 12 set assists, while Kleffman finished with nine.

Wirebaugh concluded with nine digs, and Miller, Burckhard, and Kleffman each added eight.

Central, 14-9, hosts Watertown on Tuesday at Golden Eagles Arena.

Setting: Aberdeen Central 79-79 37 assists (Albrecht 30-30 12 assists, Alivia Miller 29-29 12 assists, Kleffman 15-15 9 assists).

Digs: Aberdeen Central 46 (Wirebaugh 9, Miller 8, Burckhard 8, Kleffman 8).
