VERMILLION – Aberdeen Roncalli has a pair of golfers among the top 15 places following the opening day of the State A Golf Tournament at The Bluffs Golf Course on Monday.

Finn Anderson is tied for 11th after a round of 76, while teammate Lucas Daggett is tied for 15th with a round of 77.

“Lucas and Finn had good days today, but they feel like they left some shots out there,” said Roncalli coach Jon Murdy. “And Matthew (Gerlach), Jesse (Hernandez), and Harper (Schnabel) know they can play better. Just have to let it happen and not force it.”

Dakota Valley and Vermillion have distanced themselves from the field in team points. Dakota Valley leads the tourney with a team score of 291, and Vermillion is close behind at 297.

“Dakota Valley and Vermillion are good teams,” Murdy said.

Roncalli is currently in fourth place with a 327, one stroke ahead of Sioux Falls Christian.

The tourney concludes today.

“Hopefully we can go out there and play some competitive golf, and see what happens at the end,” Murdy said.
