Class A Track and Field Leaders

A pair of Northeast Conference athletes were the biggest area movers among this week’s Class A track and field leaders: Sam Rick of Milbank and Daniel Person of Britton-Hecla.

Rick jumped up to second in the triple jump following a leap of 43-feet, 8 and ¾-inches last week. He also moved up to fourth in the pole vault.

Person made a huge leap from 25th to the eighth spot in the 1,600-meter run.

There are numerous NEC athletes in the final statewide leaders.

Deuel’s Oliver Fieber has the fastest time in the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes, teammate Gabe Sather is second in the 110-meter high hurdles, Hamlin’s Zac VanMeeteren is second in the 200, third in the 100, and fifth in the 400, Milbank’s Emmet Hanson is fourth in the 300-meter intermediate hurdles, and seventh in the 110 hurdles, Milbank’s Bryton Blauert is fifth in the pole vault followed by teammate Ryan Scoular in seventh, Groton’s Keegen Tracy is sixth in the 200, with Deuel’s Gavin Kloos seventh, and Clark-Willow Lake’s Michael Severson is eighth in the shot put, and teammate Jakob Steen is eighth in the javelin. In boys’ relays, Deuel has the top time in the 800 and is fourth in the 400, and Groton is fifth in the sprint medley.

On the girls’ side, NEC athletes can also be found in numerous events. Deuel’s Makia Moe is fourth, followed by teammate Hannah Cutshaw in sixth and Milbank’s Jacy Dexter in seventh, Kamryn Nesheim of Clark-Willow Lake is seventh in the 800, and Zayda Townsend of Milbank is eight in the 400. NEC relay squads include Clark-Willow Lake which is third in the sprint medley, Groton which is fourth in the 800 and 3,200, and fifth in the 1,600, and Milbank which is fourth in the 1,600.

Great Plains Lutheran is well represented in the boys’ division as Lucas Johnson continues to lead the high jump, Micah Holien is fourth in the 200 and 400, and sixth in the 100, Hessel Andringa is eighth in the triple jump, and the Panthers are third in the sprint medley relay.

Miller’s Isaak Hunter is third in the 300 hurdles, and fourth in the 110 hurdles, while Mobridge-Pollock’s Shane Henderson is sixth in the discus, and Trayden Stambach is seventh in the triple jump.
