
If this week’s Class B track and field leaders look familiar, it’s because they are. There are no changes from last week, because there were no organized meets for Class B schools in the past 10 days due to the weather.
Between the weather and scheduled graduations, there were no new results.
Lake Region Conference athletes have had a stellar spring, recording top times and distances in leading 11 events heading into the final regular-season weekend before next week’s state meet.
Ipswich’s Kyle Hettich leads the boys’ 100-meter and 200-meter dash, teammate Rasmus Loken has the top pole vault, Faulkton’s Spencer Melius tops the 110-meter high hurdles and javelin, Northwestern’s Ella Boekelheide sets the pace in the 1,600-meter and 3,200-meter runs, Dustin Wurtz of Leola tops the field in the shot put, Dylan Hofer of Aberdeen Christian is first in the triple jump, Jalyssa Hutson of Ipswich has the top mark in the pole vault, and the Ipswich girls have the fastest time in the 1,600-meter relay.
Other area athletes who lead open events include Kendal Uttecht of Wolsey-Wessington in the 800-meter run, and Emma Schneider of Hitchcock-Tulare in the triple jump.
Area athletes and relays in second place include Melius in the 300-meter intermediate hurdles, Kadyn Westergren of Sully Buttes in the shot put, Brody Davis of Ipswich in the pole vault, Landon Larson of Potter County in the long jump, Ty Boekelheide of Northwestern in the triple jump, Marley Guthmiller of Ipswich in the pole vault, the Ipswich boys in the 400-meter relay and 1,600-meter relay, and the Potter County girls in the 3,200-meter relay.
Other area boys in open events in the leaders are: Gabe Johnson of North Central who is third in the 1,600 and 3,200, Wilmot’s Ethan Schwenn who is fourth in the 400 followed by Ipswich’s Max Kulesa in fifth, and Hettich in sixth, Wurtz who is fifth in the discus, Faulkton’s Weston Senn who is fifth in the javelin, Warner’s Chays Mansfield who is fifth in the pole vault followed by teammate Easton Bruns in sixth, and North Central’s Kobe Wherry in eighth, Logan LaBrie of Hitchcock-Tulare who is fifth in the 100, Leola’s Jacob Kindelspire who is sixth in the shot put, Kulesa who is seventh in the 800, Lucas Gulbranson of Leola who is seventh in the long jump, Loken who is eighth in the 110 and 300 hurdles, and Wilmot’s Kolby Haubris who is eighth in the high jump.
Other area boys’ relay teams in the leaders include Ipswich which is third in the 800, Frederick which is seventh in the 3,200, and Wilmot which is eighth in both the 800 and sprint medley.

Other area girls in open events in the leaders are: Breanna Jochim of Herreid-Selby Area who is third in the 100 followed by Shawnteah LaCroix of Aberdeen Christian in fourth, Dannika Kaup of Potter County who is third in the 300 hurdles, North Central’s Peyton Schnabel who is in third in the pole vault followed by Warner’s Cortney Leidholt in fourth with teammates Avery Bruns in fifth, and Jordyn Jensen in seventh, and North Central’s Carleigh Dosch in eighth, Lindsey Geier of North Central who is in third in the triple jump followed by Samara Clemente of Wolsey-Wessington in fourth, and LaCroix in fifth, Annaliese Van Zee of Sully Buttes who is fourth in the javelin, LaCroix is also fourth in the 200 followed by Sophia Knittel of Ipswich in sixth, Leidholt who is fifth in the long jump followed by Schneider in sixth and Warner’s Kaydee Mackner in eighth, Boekelheide who sixth in the 800 followed by Emma Schlachter of Potter County in seventh, Autumn Fallis of Highmore-Harrold who is sixth in the 1,600, Tatum Luce of Wolsey-Wessington who is sixth in the high jump followed by Clemente in eighth, Rebecca Huizenga of Hitchcock-Tulare who is seventh in the shot put, and Ipswich’s Madisyn Gellhaus who is eighth in the 3,200.
Other area girls’ relay teams in the leaders include Potter County which is third in the 1,600 and fifth in the sprint medley, Herreid-Selby Area which is fourth in the 400 and seventh in the 3,200, Wolsey-Wessington which is fourth in the medley, sixth in the 800, and seventh in the 3,200, Warner which is fifth in the 3,200 followed by Ipswich in sixth, Sunshine Bible which is fifth in the 1,600, and Aberdeen Christian which is eighth in the 400.
