SIOUX FALLS – Aberdeen Central fell into an early hole and wasn’t fully able to recover Tuesday night.

The Golden Eagles dropped a 25-20, 25-18, 23-25, 25-13 non-conference volleyball decision to Sioux Falls Roosevelt.

“Roosevelt served well,” said Central coach Jackie Bindenagel. “We struggled a bit in serve receive and slowing down some of their hitters at the net.”

Lauryn Burckhard topped the Golden Eagles with 15 kills, and Abigail DeVries recorded all three of Central’s ace serves on the night.

Central, 12-7 on the year, closes out the regular season with a key match against Sioux Falls Jefferson on Thursday night at Golden Eagles Arena.

Central is in a battle for home-court advantage for next week’s SoDak 16 matches. The Eagles fell to the ninth position Tuesday night. The top eight seeds will host matches for the SoDak 16.

“Jefferson is a very good team,” Bindenagel said. “We know we need a good practice (Wednesday), and a great showing Thursday. No sense looking back as we head down the stretch.”
