Two area athletes have the top marks in Class A boys heading into this weekend’s state track and field meet in Sioux Falls.
Kaleb Foltz of Tri-State clocked the fastest time in the 800-meter run last week in a time of 1:52.24. He is also third in the 400-meter dash. Hamlin’s Cristhian Rodriquez has the best mark in the javelin at 169 feet, 2 inches.
Rodriquez also has the third best throw in the discus. His teammate Zac VanMeeteren is second in the 200-meter dash, and fifth in both the 100-meter dash and 400-meter dash.
Milbank has four athletes who are among the top five in various events. Payton Brown is third in the 800 and 1,600, and fifth in the 3,200, Emmett Hanson is third in the 300-meter intermediate hurdles and fifth in the 110-meter high hurdles, Jayden Johnson is tied for third in the pole vault, Samuel Rick is fourth in the triple jump, and James Batchelor is fourth in the 1,600.
Other top five area leaders include Oliver Fieber of Deuel who is third in the 100, Alex Schumacher of Miller who is fourth in the 800, Deuel’s Robert Begalka who is fourth in the shot put, and Matthew Mount of Webster who is fifth in the shot put.
Aberdeen Roncalli’s Parker Grieben is sixth in the 110-meter high hurdles.
In relays, Milbank is second in the sprint medley, and third in the 1,600 and 3,200.
On the girls’ side, Clark-Willow Lake has the second-best time in the sprint medley relay, with Mobridge-Pollock fourth.

Individually, Sisseton’s Chloe Langager has the fourth-best throw in the shot put, Makia Moe of Deuel is fourth in the pole vault with Milbank’s Jacy Dexter tied for fifth, and Siera Wenzl is tied for fifth in the 400-meter dash.
