Area athletes can be found all over the Class B track and field leaders. Of the 40 total events in the boys and girls divisions combined, there are only two that do not include area athletes among the top eight times and distances: the boys’ high jump and the girls’ shot put.
On the girls’ side, Ella Boekelheide has the top time in the 800-meter run, is second in the 1,600 and 3,200, and fourth in the 400-meter dash. Aberdeen Christian’s Shawnteah La Croix is second in the long jump and third in the 100-meter dash and 200-meter dash. Marley Guthmiller is first in the pole vault, with teammate Jalyssa Hutson second.
Other area athletes in this week’s top five include Madisyn Gellhaus of Ipswich who is third in the 1,600 and fourth in the 3,200, Morgan Sumption of Frederick who is fourth in the 800, Dannica Kaup of Potter County who is fourth in the 300-meter intermediate hurdles, Kailyn Dorris of Wolsey-Wessington who is fourth in the javelin, and teammate Tatum Luce who is tied for fourth in the high jump, Hitchcock-Tulare’s Emma Schneider who is tied for fourth in the triple jump, Jordyn Jensen of Warner who is fourth in the pole vault, Emma Schlachter of Potter County who is fifth in the 800, and Bayleann Moen of Langford Area who is fifth in the pole vault.
Potter County is second in the 1,600-meter relay, third in the sprint melay relay and fourth in the 3,200 relay. In the 400-meter relay Herreid-Selby Area is third and Aberdeen Christian fourth, and Sunshine Bible is third in the 1,600-meter relay.
Ipswich continues to lead four events in the boys’ division. Trevor Heinz leads the long jump and Rasmus Loken tops the pole vault, while the Tigers have the best times in the 400-meter and 800-meter relays.
Lincoln Woodring of Northwestern is number one in the 800, and Faulkton’s Spencer Melius is first in the javelin.

Other top five area athletes are Ty Boekelheide of Northwestern is second in the triple jump, Warner’s Hunter Cramer is second in the 110-meter high hurdles, Camden Eng of Castlewood third in the 200, Potter County’s Carter Luikens is third in the 400, Caleb Richmond of Wolsey-Wessington is fourth in the 800, Woodring is fourth in the 1,600, Melius is fifth in the 300 hurdles, Leola’s Dustin Wurtz is third in the shot put and fifth in the discus, and Lane Tvedt of Castlewood is fifth in the long jump.
In other relays, Northwestern is second in the sprint medley and fourth in the 3,200, and Potter County is fourth in the 400.
