WATERTOWN – Aberdeen Central tuned up for its biggest meet of the season with its highest score of the season during the Watertown Triangular gymnastics meet on Thursday night.
The Golden Eagles finished with a team total of 135.25, good for second place behind Watertown.
“The energy started high on floor and the girls were so pumped,” said Central coach Mickey Everson. “I told them to carry it to the next event and they did. We just rolled from one event to the next and never let that fire burn out.”
Central had gone two weeks without a meet because of weather postponements, so it gave the gymnastics extra time to work on their routines.
“We were able to really focus on new skills and perfecting what we have in all that practice time and it paid off,” Everson said. “We went in with the mindset to have fun and throw it all out on the floor.”
The Eagles were led by Johanna Jarrott who finished third in vault, Addison Everson who was fifth on floor, and Alexis Bomesberger and Regan Lust who tied for fifth on beam.

“We had some PRs and some amazing performances,” Coach Everson said.
Central will try to duplicate that effort at the Eastern South Dakota Conference meet Saturday in Watertown, which also serves as a state qualifying meet.
“We want to carry this energy into tomorrow at ESD,” Coach Everson said. “It helps that this is the same venue, same equipment, same atmosphere as last night, just a higher pressure meet.”
Team Points: Watertown 143.55, Aberdeen Central 135.25, Huron 128.
