GETTYSBURG – The Ipswich Tigers captured both team titles at the Region 6B track and field meet in Gettysburg on Thursday.
The Ipswich boys won with a score of 198.5 points, well ahead of runner-up finisher Herreid-Selby Area (84). The Tiger girls won with 144 team points, ahead of Faulkton Area (128).
On the boys’ side, Ipswich was victorious in seven events, with Trevor Heinz leading the way with wins in the 100-meter dash and long jump. Ian Beyers won the 800-meter run, Lucas Rowland won the shot put, Tyler Hettich captured the high jump, and Brody Davis won the pole vault. The Tigers also won the 3,200-meter relay.
Faulkton won four events, including a trio of relays. The Trojans picked up wins in the 400-meter, 800-meter, and 1,600-meter relays, in addition to Daniel Stoll winning the 200-meter dash.
Potter County and Herreid-Selby Area each won a trio of events. The Battlers’ Nicholas Schlachter won the 1,600 and 3,200 runs, while Carter Luikens won the 400-meter dash. Herreid-Selby Area’s Brenden Begeman won the discus and triple jump, while Brayden Goehring won the 300-meter intermediate hurdles.
Other boys’ winners included Sunshine Bible Academy winning the Sprint Medley relay, while Lyman’s Rory McManus won the 110-meter high hurdles.
On the girls’ side, Potter County led with five event wins. The Battlers earned wins in the 1,600 and 3,200 relays, while Megan Seurer (200), Emma Schlachter (800), and Dannika Kaup (300 hurdles) also won events.
Ipswich, Sully Buttes, and Sunshine Bible Academy each won three events. Ipswich earned wins in the pole vault (Marley Guthmiller), triple jump (Ashley Ptacek), and 400-meter relay. Sully Buttes’ Lydia Hill won the shot put and discus, while Stevie Wittler won the 100-meter hurdles.
Sunshine Bible Academy picked up wins in the 400-meter dash (Daraby Boersma), 800-meter relay, and Sprint Medley relay.

Highmore-Harrold’s Autumn Fallis won the 1,600 and 3,200 runs, while Faulkton’s Addison Melius won the high jump and long jump. Herreid-Selby Area’s Breanna Jochim won the 100-meter dash.
