The Aberdeen Central tennis squad welcomed the return of its top player Friday during a pair of tennis duals at the Holgate Courts.
Emily Ringgenberg saw her first action in return from an injury during an 8-1 dual win over Rapid City Central. The Golden Eagles then fell to Rapid City Stevens 7-2.
“We started with RC Central and the big news of that match was the return of Emily Ringgenberg,” said Central coach John Vogel. “She teamed up with Alice (Vogel) for an impressive return. We only played her in doubles to play it safe.”
The plan is for Ringgenberg to play both singles and doubles during the Elliott Extravaganza today.
Julia Knie filled in at top flight singles and grabbed two of Central’s three victories on the day.
Central came close to another victory at flight five singles against Stevens, where Laney Gonsor fell to her foe 13-11 in a first-set tiebreaker and then 6-3 in the second set.

“Stevens is just plain good. I thought we played fairly close to them a month ago, but other than Laney Gonsor, we weren’t that close to them today,” Coach Vogel said. “I’m not saying we didn’t play well. I think a lot of the girls played better than I’ve seen in a while, but Stevens was just that good today.”
Central will face Pierre at 9 this morning in the extravaganza before taking on cross-town foe Aberdeen Roncalli around 4:15 p.m.
