FAULKTON – Aberdeen Roncalli won its fourth straight match by claiming a hard fought 25-20, 25-22, 25-14 non-conference volleyball victory over Faulkton Monday night.
“It was an extremely nice win for us tonight with some long and intense rallies,” said Roncalli coach Leesa Ware. “Faulkton is a very good team and didn’t give us a win easy.”
The Cavaliers pulled away from a 19-17 advantage in the opening set thanks to three straight points, and then rallied from a 20-19 deficit in the second set by scoring four of the next five points.
“Our defense really stood out tonight,” Ware said. “Cambry Feickert had a stellar evening and really read the hitters to adjust her defense and picked up many digs defensively for us tonight.”
Roncalli featured a balanced hitting attack with Jillian Ellwein collecting nine kills, Karsyn Davis finishing with eight, and Grace Cogley adding seven.
Feickert had two aces and 29 digs.
Anika Mueller topped Faulkton with two ace serves, and nine kills.
Roncalli, 18-5 on the season, is back at it tonight hosting Milbank at Roncalli Gym. The Cavaliers then play at Deuel on Friday before hosting Herreid-Selby Area next week to close out the regular season.
“It was a nice win to boost the girls’ confidence going into postseason and a busy week for us,” Ware said.
