WEBSTER – Aberdeen Christian collected 11 aces on the way to 25-17, 25-20, 25-16 win over Webster in non-conference volleyball action Monday night. It was the fourth win in the past three days for the Knights, who won three matches at a tourney last Saturday.
“I thought we did a really nice job serving tonight and getting Webster out of system,” said Christian coach Sally Stoebner.
After winning the opening set, the Knights bolted out to a 17-4 advantage in the second set, but the Bearcats did not go quietly. The hosts sliced the margin down to 21-18, before Christian scored three of the next four points to take control.
The Knights then jumped out to a 7-1 lead in the third set and never trailed on the way to closing out the sweep.
Arianna Johnson had 14 kills and Jolie Fogarty contributed nine to lead the Knights at the net.
“Ari and Jolie both took some big swings,” Stoebner said.
Payton Skarin led Christian’s serving with four aces, and Jacie Fogarty followed with three.
The Knights, who improved to 17-9 on the season, are back in action tonight with a match at Ipswich, before capping their regular season on Friday at Ellendale, N.D.
“This win definitely gives us some confidence as we near the end of the regular season,” Stoebner said.
