GROTON – Groton exploded for six first-half goals and picked up an 8-2 girls’ soccer victory over Vermillion on Saturday.

McKenna Tietz set the tone with back-to-back goals within a minute in the opening half. She added another goal later in the half and then assisted on a goal in the second half.

The Tigers also received goals from Avery Clark, Ashlynn Warrington, Sydney Locke, Addison Hoffman, and Devan Locke.

“McKenna Tietz found her way to three goals and an assist on the day and moved her way into first all-time in our program’s all-time scoring charts with 34 career goals and counting,” said Groton coach Matt Baumgartner. “McKenna has been a focal point on our offense throughout the years and her hard work and commitment to track down the ball with her speed, and ability to cut back and make plays for herself and her teammates has been incredible help for our team’s success.”

Groton will host Lennox on Tuesday.
