Area golfers top leaders at State B golf tourneys

BROOKINGS – A trio of golfers sits atop the individual leaders following the opening day of the Class B State Golf Tournaments on Monday.

Brynn Roehrich of Clark-Willow Lake and Jayce Pugh of Miller are tied for first following rounds of 74 at the girls’ tourney. Webster’s Bailee Ninke is tied for third, just three strokes off the pace.

Gavin Colson of Sully Buttes leads the boys’ tournament by two strokes after shooting a 71. Among those tied for second are Gettsyburg’s Wiley Cronin and Wolsey-Wessington’s Larz Tvedt.

Dell Rapids St. Mary owns a one-stroke edge over Miller in the girls’ team points. Clark-Willow Lake is third a dozen strokes off the pace.

There are four other area girls in the top 10.

Tayrn Hettick of Selby Area and Mollie Simon of Ipswich are tied for eighth after each shot an 80, and Ruby Dallman of Frederick and Kaihlyn Anderberg of Miller are tied for 10th after rounds of 81.

Philip leads the boys’ team points, three strokes ahead of Wessington Springs, and five better than Bon Homme.

Webster’s Ian Lesnar and Doland’s Kaiden Weinreis are tied for 11th after each shot a 76.
