GROTON – Two Aberdeen Roncalli teammates shared first place to help the Cavaliers win the team crown at the Groton Invitational on Monday.

Mackenzie Wegehaupt and Claire Crawford both shot rounds of 85 to lead a strong finish for the entire team as Roncalli won the team title by 13 strokes with a score of 351.

“Happy for the girls today,” said Roncalli coach Jon Murdy. “Mackenzie and Claire tie for first is crazy to think. Also, having all six girls inside the top 10 just shows the future is bright for Roncalli.”

Roncalli’s Ava Danielson was fourth (89), Grace Seyer was seventh (92), Grace Helms was ninth (95), and Molly Jorgensen was 10th (100).

Kenzley Heath of Sisseton was fourth with an 88, while Carlee Johnson of Groton and Elliot Hortness of Sisseton tied for fifth with rounds of 90.

“Some more things that we need to clean up,” Murdy said, “but happy with how things are going.”

Roncalli heads to Madison for a tournament on Thursday.
