DELL RAPIDS – Aberdeen Roncalli made it four in a row during the Region 1A golf tournament on Wednesday.
The Cavaliers captured their fourth consecutive region crown, topping the field by 13 strokes.
“I’m really proud of this group. Winning one is special, but to do it four years in a row says a lot about the consistency of our players and community,” said Roncalli coach Jon Murdy. “The girls competed hard all day, stayed focused, and handled the pressure really well.”
Madison’s Sienna Maxwell won medalist honors with an 81.
Roncalli’s Grace Seyer was runner-up with an 82, Claire Crawford was fourth with an 84, Mackenzie Wegehaupt tied for fifth with an 85, and Ava Danielson was ninth with an 88.
“We had contributions up and down the lineup and that’s what it takes to win championships,” Murdy said. “It was a great team effort, and we’re excited for the opportunity ahead.”
Sisseton’s Kenzley Heath finished third with an 83.

Roncalli will now gear up for the State A Tournament June 1-2 at Dakota Dunes.
“We’re excited for the challenge. State is always a tough tournament, and every team there has earned its spot” Murdy said. “Our focus will be staying sharp, playing our game, and continuing to compete the way we have all season.”
The state meet promises to be a memorable one for Murdy, who is stepping down as coach of the program.
“The girls have worked really hard for this opportunity, and it makes this one a little more special knowing it’ll be my last trip to state as a coach,” Murdy said. “I couldn’t ask for a better group of girls to share this moment with, and we’re looking forward to making the most of it.”
