Ipswich athletes have big day at Eureka Lions meet

EUREKA – A total of five Ipswich track and field athletes won multiple open events during the Eureka Lions meet on Thursday.

Sophie Knittel and Marley Guthmiller each had a role in four victories on the day.

Knittel won the 100-meter dash, the 200-meter dash and ran on winning 400-meter and 1,600-meter relay teams. Guthmiller won the 400-meter dash, the 800-meter run, and was a member of first place 1,600-meter and 3,200-meter relay squads.

Ipswich’s Aubree DeRaad swept the 100-meter and 300-meter hurdles, Tristan Geditz won the shop put and discus, and Kyle Hettich won the 100, 200 and ran on the winning 800-meter relay team.

Donovan Nelson of North Central won three open events during the meet, sweeping the high jump, long jump and triple jump.
