Aberdeen Central track and field athletes used a strong showing at the Eastern South Dakota Conference meet last Saturday to move up in the Class AA leaderboard this week.

Most notable are several individuals who were not among the leaders in open events, but are this week.

Catelyn Weig has moved into the fifth spot in the 100-meter hurdles, while Carter Lust is now eighth in the 100-meter dash.

Jack Bertsch climbed to the top of the discus and Brenner Waldrop inched up two spots to sixth in that event this week.

Also, the Golden Eagles are now fourth in the girls’ 400-meter relay, and increased one spot to sixth in the girls’ 800-meter relay.  The Central boys bumped up two spots to sixth in the 400-meter relay.

Kyson Fayant bettered his standard in the 300-meter hurdles by setting a new state record at ESD in a time of :37.81.

Taryn Hermansen continues to lead the shot put.

Other Central girls in the leaders are Mya Arampatzis who is second in the 100 hurdles, Paige Ewalt who is fourth in the discus, Regan Lust who is seventh in the high jump, and Breckan Santjer who is eighth in the pole vault.

Other Central boys in the leaders are Fayant who is eighth in the 400, Waldrop who is eighth in the discus, and the 800-meter relay team which is eighth.
