BISMARCK, N.D. – The Aberdeen Wings scored three third-period goals and grabbed a 3-0 win over Bismarck in game one of their NAHL Hockey Central Division playoff series. It marked Aberdeen’s sixth straight victory over the Bobcats.

After two scoreless periods, Aberdeen controlled the third period, scoring three unanswered goals.

Easton Edwards put the Wings on the board with 12:29 remaining on assists from Briggs Orr and Matthew Martin. The Wings then broke the game open when David Hruby and Matthew Martin scored back-to-back goals within 22 seconds in the final minutes.

“We seemed to get better each period. We played consistent throughout,” said Wings coach Scott Langer. “It takes one good play to make a difference and the play on Edwards goal was a big one.”

Aberdeen was whistled for three penalties in the final period and not only overcame them, but had a short-handed goal.

“Not sure special teams should have been so lopsided,” Langer said, “but it’s just going to make us better.”

Adam Dybal recorded 27 saves in goal for the Wings.

Last year Aberdeen won the first two games in Bismarck, only to have the Bobcats take the final three to win the series.

Langer said Friday’s win is now in the past and it’s on to game two this evening.

“All goes away at midnight,” Langer said, “and on to the next game.”

The series will shift to the Odde Ice Center in Aberdeen next weekend.
