Region features numerous top returning golfers

From a defending state champion to more than a dozen other place-winners, the region will once again feature some of the state’s elite golfers this spring.

Brynn Roehrich of Clark-Willow Lake is back to defend her State B individual crown. She has won the last two state titles. Miller’s Jayce Pugh also returns after a third-place finish last season.

In Class B boys, former champion Gavin Colson of Sully Buttes is also back after a runner-up finish a year ago. Also returning is Larz Tvedt of Wolsey-Wessington who tied for fourth last season.

Other top returning Class B girls include Miller’s Kaihlyn Anderberg who was sixth, Taryn Hettick of Selby who tied for seventh, Faith Roehrich of Clark-Willow Lake who was 12th, Doland’s Olivia Knox who tied for 16th, and Faulkton’s Anika Mueller and Mollie Simon of Ipswich, who both tied for 19th.

Other top returning Class B boys include Kaden Weinreis of Doland who was 10th, Miller’s Oliver Fritzsche who was 11th, Kaden Wookey of Clark-Willow Lake who tied for 15th, and Seth Hettick of Edmunds Central and Webster’s Seth Lesnar who tied for 20th.

There are many other returning area golfers who finished in the top 50 at the state tournament.

In Class A girls, Sisseton’s Kenzley Heath eighth a year ago.
