BROOKINGS – Aberdeen Roncalli had a strong showing in the lower flights in a pair of tennis duals during the Brookings Jamboree on Saturday. The Cavaliers ended up falling to Brookings 6-3 and to Yankton 7-2.
Of Roncalli’s five victories on the day, four of them came from the bottom of the lineup.
Molleigh Hofer won both of her matches at flight five singles, while Abby Andersen won both of hers at flight six singles.
“Molleigh Hofer and Abby Andersen each played really well in singles today,” said Roncalli coach Jonah Dignan.
The other win for the Cavaliers came at flight two doubles, where Gianna Cihak and Hofer dominated their opponents by a 10-1 margin.
“Gianna and Molleigh played super well together against Brookings,” Dignan said. “They were like a brick wall.”
Roncalli will have its home opener on Tuesday when the Cavaliers play host to Milbank at the Northern State Courts.
