Area athletes continued to move up the Class B track and field leader board this past week.
Herreid-Selby Area’s Breanna Jochim moved into second in the 100-meter dash. She is also fifth in the 200, and seventh in the long jump. Kayden Cronin of Potter County is now fourth in the triple jump.
On the boys’ side Northwestern’s Ty Boekelheide jumped up three spots into second in the triple jump, while Lane Tvedt of Castlewood is now third in the long jump, behind Trevor Heinz of Ipswich who is tied for first.
There was also major movement in the 300-meter intermediate hurdles where Spencer Melius of Faulkton is now fourth, and Nathan Melius of Northwestern is seventh.
Other athletes continued to hold down their spots atop various events. Lincoln Woodring tops the 800-meter run, Rasmus Loken of Ipswich leads the pole vault, and Spencer Melius is first in the javelin. Ella Boekelheide of Northwestern leads the 800 and 1,600, and Jalyssa Hutson of Ipswich tops the pole vault with teammate Marley Guthmiller second.
Among the top five in other girls’ events are Aberdeen Christian’s Shawnteah La Croix who is second in the 200 and third in the 100, Boekelheide who is second in the 400 and 3,200, Savana Hayes of Faulkton who is second in the javelin, followed by Kaylinn Dorris of Wolsey-Wessington in fourth, Madisyn Gellhaus of Ipswich who is third in the 1,600, Tatum Luce of Wolsey-Wessington who is tied for third in the high jump, and Jordyn Jensen of of Warner and Bayleann Moen of Langford who are tied for third in the pole vault.

Top five leaders in the boys’ division include Dustin Wurtz of Leola who is third in the shot put and fifth in the discus, Kyle Hettich of Ipswich who is fifth in the 100-meter dash, Caleb Richmond of Wolsey-Wessington who is third in the 800, Woodring who is fifth in the 1,600, and Warner’s Hunter Cramer who is fifth in the 110-meter high hurdles.
