Groton girls control relays at Sisseton meet

SISSETON – The Groton girls had a big day during the Sisseton Legion Relays track and field meet Thursday.

The Tigers won four of five relay races on the day. McKenna Tietz was involved in four victories, winning the 100-meter hurdles and the 300-meter intermediate hurdles. She also ran on a pair of first place relay squads.

Laila Roberts, Jerica Locke and Rylee Dunker each ran on three winning relays for Groton.

Northwestern’s Ella Boekelheide won both the 400-meter dash and 800-meter run.

Kaleb Foltz of Tri-State won three open events on the boys’ side. The senior won the 400, 800 and 1,600.

Deuel had a trio of athletes that won a pair of individual events. Oliver Fieber won the 100 and 200, Gabe Sather won the 110 hurdles and the pole vault, and Robert Begalka won the shot put and the discus. Fieber also ran a pair of winning relays for the Cardinals.
