Lake Region Conference athletes top more than a half dozen events in this week’s Class B track and field leaders.
Northwestern’s Ella Boekelheide sets the pace in two races (the 800-meter run and the 1,600-meter run) and is second in two others (the 400 and 3,200). Jalyssa Hutson of Ipswich leads the pole vault with teammate Marley Guthmiller second, and Warner’s Jordyn Jensen tied for third.
Shawnteah La Croix is second in the 100 and 200, and fellow LRC member Savanna Hayes of Faulkton is second in the javelin. Madisyn Gellhaus of Ipswich is third in the 1,600 with Morgan Sumption of Frederick fifth.
On the boys’ side, Lake Region Conference athletes lead six events. Faulkton’s Spencer Melius tops the javelin, Rasmus Loken of Ipswich has the best height in the pole vault and teammate Trevor Heinz is tied for first in the long jump, and Northwestern’s Lincoln Woodring has the fastest time in the 800-meter run and is third in the 1,600.
Elsewhere, Kyle Hettich and Heinz are fifth and sixth, respectively in the 100, Hettich is fourth in the 200, Kalen Godel of Langford Area is fifth in 800, and Gavin Nickelson of Frederick is seventh in that race. Nathan Melius of Northwestern is eighth in both the 800 and 1,600. Warner’s Hunter Cramer is fifth in the 110-meter high hurdles, while teammate Alex Pudwill is seventh in the javelin and eighth in the discus. Ty Boekelheide is tied for fifth in the triple jump. Ipswich is first in both the 400 and 800 relays.

Wolsey-Wessington’s Caleb Richmond is second in the 800 and seventh in the 400. The Warbirds are also second in the sprint medley relay. Castlewood’s Lane Tvedt is tied for fifth in the triple jump.
In other girls’ events, Herreid-Selby Area tops the 400 and 800 relays, while Sunshine Bible is third in the 1,600 and sprint medley relays.
Tatum Luce of Wolsey-Wessington is tied for second in the high jump, and teammate Kristin Dorris is tied for third in the javelin.
