The Northern State women’s basketball team rallied from a double-digit deficit in the fourth quarter and then took control in overtime for a win over St. Cloud State Friday night.
The Wolves controlled the extra period in a 67-59 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference women’s basketball victory at Wachs Arena. Northern is now 3-0 in the league action.
After jumping out to a 14-5 lead in the opening period, Northern fell behind when the Huskies used a 29-10 advantage in the third quarter to open a 10-point lead heading into the fourth quarter.
The Wolves responded by erasing that deficit, forcing the overtime and then taking over from there.
Rianna Fillipi led Northern with 22 points and Madelyn Bragg followed with 18. Alyana Benike scored nine, and Brynn Alfson and Decontee Smith each finished with eight.
The Wolves, 7-2 overall and 3-0 in the NSIC, are right back at it again today, hosting Bemidji State at 6 this evening.
