A look back at some of the sports happenings during the week of Sept. 10-16:
Last year on Sept. 10, 2022: A Division II runner won a men’s cross country race hosted by a Division I school. Jackson Harrison of Northern State won the 8 kilometer race (25:01.61) at the SDSU Classic.
10 years ago on Sept. 14, 2013: The Warner volleyball team had its 108-set winning streak snapped, but extended its match winning streak to 45 straight with a 21-25, 25-23, 25-21 win over Arlington.
20 years ago on Sept. 13, 2003: The Northern State soccer team remained undefeated in beating USD 1-0. Melissa Gamble scored for the Wolves on assists by Lisa Heaviland and Jessi Hambrick while teammate Emily Herbst made eight saves in goal.
30 years ago on Sept. 10, 1993: Britton (2-0) defeated Frederick-Hecla 33-14 behind the three-touchdown performance of Mike Burger.
40 years ago on Sept. 10, 1983: The football captains for Lead this fall are Rich Nelson, Randy Nelson and John Nelson. All three are seniors, but are not related.
50 years ago on Sept. 10, 1973: Northern State handled Minnesota-Morris 24-7 on touchdown runs from John Brown (one yard), Steve Schulte (32), Steve Graf (22) and Wayne Geary (25).
