HURON – Miller’s Jayce Pugh won the girls’ individual championship, while the Wessington Springs boys and Chester girls captured team titles during the James Valley Christian Invitational golf tournament on Tuesday.

Pugh shot an 80 to win the girls’ division by five strokes. Ethan Bartholow of JVC edged Miller’s Derek Brueggeman by one stroke in the boys’ division.

Aberdeen Christian was led by Malek Wieker with a 105 and Ellis Russell with a 106.

“We had some rain and winds today that made the round a bit more difficult for the guys,” said Christian coach Tyler Pridey of his players. “It was the first time playing the course for them as well. Those factors in particular obviously make the golf more difficult as each of them are still learning how to manage their game accordingly.”

The Knights golf again Thursday at a tournament in Watertown.
