
WEBSTER – Great Plains Lutheran captured both team titles and won 11 individual events at the Waubay Legion Invitational on Friday.
Great Plains Lutheran scored 145 points on the girls’ side, while the boys won with a score of 75.
On the girls’ side, Great Plains Lutheran won nine events, including two wins by Sophie Kannas in the 100 and 200-meter dashes. Cassie Kanzenbach (400-meter dash), Halle Bauer (1,600-meter run), Katherine Prahl (100-meter hurdles), Kyrie Roberts (300-meter hurdles), and Abigail Kjenstad (long jump) also won events, while the Panthers also won the 400 and 800-meter relays.
Northwestern won three girls’ events, including the 3,200-meter relay. The Wildcats also had wins from Ella Boekelheide in the 800-meter run and Ella Haven in the triple jump.
Other individual girls wins include Dakota Hills’ Madison Zirbel (3,200-meter run), Sisseton’s Chloe Langager (discus), Webster’s Lydia Vogl (pole vault), and Frederick’s Sofia Losure (high jump). Frederick also won the Sprint Medley relay, while Florence/Henry won the 1,600-meter relay.
On the boys’ side, four teams each won three events. Langford Area picked up wins in the 800- meter run (Kalen Godel), 110-meter hurdles (Julian Rodriguez), and 300-meter hurdles (Jesse Keough). Frederick collected wins in the 1,600-meter run (Winston Clark), 400-meter relay, and Sprint Medley Relay. Florence-Henry had wins in the high jump (Adam Moe), triple jump (Mehki Keller), and 1,600-meter relay. Tri-State’s Casey Litton won the 200-meter dash, while Kaleb Foltz won the 400-meter dash. The Tigers also won the 800-meter relay.

Great Plains Lutheran and Northwestern each won two events. The Panthers won the 100-meter dash (Micah Holien) and the shot put (RJ Perry), while the Wildcats won the 3,200-meter run (Lincoln Woodring) and the 3,200-meter relay. Sisseton’s Casey Stickland won the pole vault.
