Langford Area found a way to the finish line Tuesday night.

The Lions trailed early and fended off Aberdeen Christian late on the way to a 25-22, 25-17, 25-23 Lake Region Conference volleyball victory at the Christian School Gym.

“We came out on fire again, but errors hurt us,” said Christian coach Sara Powell. “I’m super proud of the improvement the girls are making with each game.”

Like they did in their last home game against Groton, the Knights were the front runners early, but were unable to maintain the momentum. Langford Area edged in front on the way to securing the opening set.

After the Lions took control in set two, they had to fend off a late Christian rally to close out the match. The Knights saved five match points before finally succumbing in the third set.

Megan Gustafson had six kills and Bryanna Peterson five for Langford Area. Gustafson also added 15 digs and three blocks. The Lions improved to 4-3 on the season.

Chloe Bosma topped Christian with five kills and also added 14 digs. Alexis Isakson finished with team-leading totals of four aces and 17 digs. Payton Skarin contributed three aces and four kills for the Knights.

“Chloe Bosma was definitely the leader defensively and offensively. She had an amazing run of serves and digs,” Powell said. “Alexis had another great night of digs, too.”

Christian, 0-4 on the season, plays in a tournament at Clark on Saturday.
