REDFIELD – The Aberdeen Roncalli golf squad turned in its best performance of the season at the Redfield Invitational on Tuesday.

The Cavaliers claimed the top four positions and won the team championship by 21 strokes.

“It was great to see everyone on the team play well at times,” said Roncalli coach Jon Murdy.

The event was 20 holes instead of the normal 18, so the totals are a bit misleading. However, Roncalli golfers still turned in solid scores despite golfing two extra holes.

Sawyer Henrich finished with a 76, six strokes better than anyone in the field.

“It was nice to see Sawyer’s hard work starting to pay off for him,” Murdy said.

Finn Anderson was runner-up with an 82. Harper Schnabel was third with an 84, and Jesse Hernandez was fourth with an 85.

Roncalli finished with a team score of 329, an impressive total considering the extra golf.

“For playing a 20-hole tournament, it was our best tournament score of the year,” Murdy said, noting that without the extra holes the Cavaliers would have finished with a team total of 301. “Hope we can build off of it for the last couple of weeks of the season.”

The Cavaliers are heading into the final stage of the season. They compete in a tourney at Watertown on Tuesday before region and state.
