Central falls to Brandon Valley in straight sets

BRANDON - Aberdeen Central played much better from the back row Thursday night, but struggled at the net in a setback to Brandon Valley. The Golden Eagles were swept 25-15, 25-14, 25-9 in the Eastern South Dakota Conference volleyball match. "We didn't finish at the net," said Central coach Jackie Bindenagel. "We passed extremely well." Interestingly enough, the final set was one of Central's best on the night before the Lynx closed with a flurry. "We were point for point in set three," Bindenagel said. "We were playing really well and they went on a 13-point run." Karly Wellman had six kills in the match to pace the Eagles. Sydney Evans contributed 15 digs. Bindenagel noted that the team passed much better than it did in a match against O'Gorman earlier this week. "Our serve receive was the best it's been all year," she said. Central, 5-7 on the season, plays host to Pierre at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Golden Eagles Arena.
