Aberdeen Central athletes are gearing up for a big track and field weekend with the O’Gorman Invitational and the Howard Wood Dakota Relays. The Golden Eagles have three relays among the statewide leaders on both the boys’ and girls’ side.

Sam Rohlfs, Josh Martin and Daniel Street continue to set the pace for Central.

Rohlfs has the top long jump and is second in the triple jump. The junior is seventh in the 200-meter dash and is also a member of an 800-meter relay squad that ranks among the leaders.

Martin and Street are among the top distance runners in South Dakota. Martin is second in the 1,600-meter run and third in the 3,200, while Street is seventh in the 1,600 and fourth in the 3,200. Both are members of a 3,200-meter relay team that has the third best time.

Jacob Merxbauer is third in the triple jump.

Abby Kopecky is Central’s highest leader for girls, currently fourth in the 300-meter intermediate hurdles.

The Eagles have the second fastest time in AA in the girls’ 1,600-meter relay. Members include Melanie Jacobs, Kopecky, Brooklyn Kusler and Sadie Struble.
