Martin wins Lee Wolf title

By SportScene staff reports – Aberdeen Central’s Brock Martin won the 126-pound championship during the annual Lee Wolf Wrestling Tournament Saturday at Golden Eagles Arena.

Canton walked away with the team title with 258 points. Winner was second with 221, followed by Watertown with 203, and Chamberlain with 140. Central finished fifth with 117 1/2 points.

Martin won three matches in all, including a narrow 4-3 decision over Kale Ask of Canton in the championship bout.

A total of nine Golden Eagles finished sixth place or better in the tourney.

Brayden Zens was third at 106 pounds, while Samuel Calvert was third at 170. Finishing fourth for Central were Mason Schrempp at 113, Dylan Schaunaman at 182, and Bryce Beitelspacher at 220.

Dylan Schaunaman took fifth at 182, Jacob Bellefeuille was sixth at 120, and Landon Merkel was sixth at 195.

A trio of Central girls also had solid days. Melina Frank went 3-1, while Morgan Woosley and Madyson Gillen both finished the day at 2-2.
