GROTON (By SportScene staff) – Wessington Springs-Woonsocket-Wolsey-Wessington rolled to the team title at the Groton Wrestling Tournament on Saturday. WSWWW scored 190 points. Clark-Willow Lake finished second with 145 points. Groton was fourth with 83.
Clark-Willow Lake finished with four individual weight winners. Joshua Kannegieter topped the field at 106 pounds, Gunnar Kvistad won the 120-pound championship, Lucas Kannegieter captured the 170-pound crown, and Gage Burke pinned his foe in the 182-pound championship.
A trio of Groton wrestlers won individual championships. Dragr Monson remained unbeaten on the way to claiming the 113-pound title with a pin in the final match. Christian Ehresmann also won by fall in the championship match at 126 pounds. Lane Krueger claimed the 195-pound title with a pin in the title bout.
Webster had two individual champs. Cael Larson blanked his foe in the finals at 132 pounds, while Andy Johnson pinned his opponent to win the 145-pound crown.
