NORTH SIOUX CITY – The Groton girls dropped a 2-0 soccer decision to Dakota Valley on Saturday afternoon.

The Tigers held their own against once-beaten Dakota Valley, which received goals from Isabel Bradshaw in the opening half, and Mallory Riibe in the second half. Groton lost to the Panthers 10-2 to open the season last month.

“We executed a game plan very well,” said Groton coach Matt Baumgartner. “We played very smart soccer and some of the best movement soccer we have seen all season.”

The Tigers will take on 9-win West Central on Monday as the regular season winds to a close.

Baumgartner said there were plenty of positives to take away from the Dakota Valley contest.

“After today’s performance, we are all very pleased with how our team is looking at this crucial last push time of the season,” Baumgartner said.
