Aberdeen Christian put together a balanced effort both offensively and defensively and leveraged both into a sweep of Herreid-Selby Area Thursday evening in non-conference volleyball action at the Aberdeen Christian Gym. The Knights won by set scores of 25-4, 25-10 and 25-21.
Christian’s attack began at the service line, where the Knights racked up no fewer than 15 total service aces. Mia Ramirez led the way in that effort with nine aces, followed by Arianna Johnson with five.
Johnson then led a very balanced attack at the net, finishing with 10 kills. Jolie Fogarty had six, Reagan Jett added five, and Sophie Glynn contributed four.
Meanwhile, on the defensive portion of the court, the Knights were just as balanced. Fogarty and Ramirez had nine digs apiece to keep Herreid-Selby Area’s counterattacks at bay. Sawyer Schwan finished with eight digs to go along with her 25 assists, and Peyton Skarin had six digs for the Knights.

“I’m really proud of my team for playing an all-around great volleyball match,” said Knights coach Sally Stoebner. “Arianna Johnson and Mia Ramirez put a ton of pressure on the other team with their serving tonight, and our defense did a really nice job of keeping us in system.”
Up next for the 2-1 Knights is the second of a three-match homestand, as Christian will host Langford Area Tuesday night at the ACS Gym.
