Aberdeen Roncalli had little trouble dispatching a visiting Tiospa Zina squad in straight sets Thursday night, cruising to a 25-3, 25-7, 25-6 win in a Northeast Conference volleyball matchup at home.

The Cavaliers kept the visitors off balance with a strong attack at the service line. Jillian Ellwein finished with 10 aces in 23 attempts, while Karsyn Davis had nine aces in just 18 attempts.

That effort meant slightly fewer opportunities at the net for the hosts, who still managed a balanced attack. Gabby Thomas finished with five kills, followed by Ellwein with four, and Grace Cogley and Davis with three each.

“(Our kids) knew what the expectations were and what needed to be done, and that’s exactly what they did,” said Roncalli assistant coach Aspen Johnson, who filled in for head coach Leesa Ware, who was out with an illness.

Winners of four straight to begin the season, the Cavaliers will host Florence-Henry on Tuesday.
