YANKTON – Aberdeen Central hit the pitch on a mission on Friday evening.

After a subpar performance on Tuesday, the Golden Eagles set the tone with a goal in the second minute of action and never looked back in a 3-0 win over Yankton in an Eastern South Dakota Conference boys’ soccer contest.

“We did a much better of connecting and the guys brought a much better mental approach to the game from minute one,” said Central coach Lance Mohr.

Marco Machado found the back of the net in the second minute of action. Linus Johnson added a pair of second-half goals to ice the victory.

Central finished with 25 total shots in the contest.

“Created several chances and would’ve liked to see us finish a little bit better, especially earlier to try to put the game out of reach,” Mohr said. “Overall, a good team win and on to the next one.”

That next one will take place next Saturday when the Golden Eagles host Tea Area at 1 p.m. at Brownell Activities Complex.
