GARRETSON – The Groton girls picked up a 4-2 soccer victory over Garretson on Thursday.

The Tigers jumped in front right away when Brenna Imrie scored just three minutes into contest. Addison Steffes padded the lead four minutes later on an assist from Avery Crank.

After a Garretson goal, McKenna Tietz found the back of the net for Groton for a 3-1 lead at the break.

Groton extended the lead in the second half when Sydney Locke scored on an assist from Imrie, before Garretson produced the final goal. Tori Schuster had six saves in goal for Groton.

“Was an all-around great performance from the girls, minimizing our errors and capitalizing on theirs,” said Groton coach Matt Baumgartner.

Groton is now 3-3 on the season.

“Some well-earned time off and a full week to prepare for West Central next Saturday sets well with us,” Baumgartner said.

Meanwhile, the Groton boys dropped a 9-2 decision to Freeman-Marion-Parker-Viborg Hurley.

Groton received goals from Ethan Kroll and Ryder Schwan.
