Wesley Witter of Sully Buttes headlines 13 area players who earned all-state recognition on squads announced by the South Dakota High School Basketball Coaches Association today.

Wittler is making his second straight appearance on the Class B first team. The senior was also an honorable mention selection in 2004.

Here is a look at each of the area players on the honor units.

CLASS B

First Team

Wesley Wittler, Sully Buttes: “Wesley has been one of the most impactful players that has ever played for the Chargers. He makes an impact on the floor every night, whether he is scoring, rebounding, or defending at a high level,” said Chargers coach Brian White. “His ability to consistently produce while also elevating his teammates makes him a true difference-maker and a major reason for our team’s success this year.”

Kamden Keszler, Castlewood: “Kam had a great year,” said Chargers coach Paul Raasch. “His strength and ability to get to the rim was the key to our offense and overall success. And defensively when we needed to shut down a scorer, he would often be the guy we’d used to do it.”

Second Team

Aberdeen Christian’s Brooks Jett, center, tries to drive past Viborg-Hurley’s Lincoln Vannorsdel, left, during their consolation round game last week at the South Dakota Class B Boys State Basketball Tournament in Wachs Arena. Photo by John Davis taken 3/19/2026

Brooks Jett, Aberdeen Christian: “He really took steps in being a leader this year,” said Knights coach Matt Rohrbach. “On the court his rebounding is incredible, and he challenges every shot at the rim. He averaged around two blocks a game. He could have averaged more points, but he is unselfish and defers to his teammates.”

Honorable Mention

Westyn Thorpe, Leola-Frederick: “Westyn has been the model of consistency for our program over his career,” said Titans coach Brock Pashen. “His sophomore year he was our first guy off the bench during our state tourney run, and during his junior and senior years he took over more ballhandling responsibilities and was instrumental is getting us into our offense. Not only did he produce, but he needed to get easy shots for everyone else as well. He has been a huge part of our program’s run of success winning 58 games in the last three years.”

Kassen Keough, Langford Area: “Kassen has been a key player for us at Langford Area,” said Lions coach Brian Schuring. “He’s a leader on and off the court. Kassen loves the game of basketball and has definitely put in the time to get where he’s at.”

Waubay-Summit’s Hogan Hlavacek, left, tries to drive the baseline as Aberdeen Christian’s Brooks Jett, right, closes in on defense during a game this past season at the Aberdeen Christian School gym. Looking on for Waubay-Summit is Newton Campbell (20). Photo by John Davis taken 1/10/2026

Hogan Hlavacek, Waubay-Summit: “Hogan has put the time in to be an impact player on both ends of the floor,” said Mustangs coach Mark Amdahl. “His instincts allow him to be a great rebounder and shot blocker. He loves to compete and is coachable.”

Wolsey-Wessington’s Caleb Richmond, right, moves the ball up the floor as Aberdeen Christian’s Raymond Rodriguez-Martinez (10) gets set on defense during a game last season at the Aberdeen Civic Arena. Photo by John Davis taken 1/14/2025

Caleb Richmond, Wolsey-Wessington: “Earning All-State honors is a reflection of the work Caleb has put in day after day when no one is watching,” said Warbirds coach Austin Kemnitz. “He is a four-year starter for this program who is not only a talented player, but someone who leads by example, competes the right way, and represents our program with pride.”

CLASS A

First Team

Jackson Wadsworth, Hamlin: “Jackson has been a staple in our program the last four years,” said Chargers coach Todd Neuendorf. “This year he stepped up to a different role as a point guard as well as the leader of the team. Jackson produced every night while being guarded by the other team’s best player and became a three-level scorer.”

Sully Felberg, Clark-Willow Lake: “Sully is constantly getting better. He has become more consistent and really starting to become a well-rounded player,” said Cyclones coach Jerome Nesheim. “The competitiveness is really starting to come out. Sully is capable of playing every position on the floor and having success at it.”

Second Team

Ryder Johnson, Groton: Johnson scored more than 1,200 career points and played in three state tournaments. “He is an extremely hard worker,” said Tigers coach Greg Kjellsen. “He put in hours upon hours in the off season.”

Boden Stevenson, Hamlin: “Boden stepped into a much larger role this season,” said Chargers coach Todd Neuendorf. “Last year he was a role player and this year became a main focus of what we did offensively. Boden stretched his range to behind the arc. He had to guard people bigger than him all year.”

Third Team

Chris Bevers, Clark-Willow Lake: Chris is a true gym rat from putting up shots and working on his game to the weight room. He has worked his tail off to get to the point he is now,” said Cyclones coach Jerome Neisheim. “He is able to score at all levels, from posting up, to attacking the rim to 3-point shooting. He uses his strength extremely well. He has become a mismatch problem.”

Honorable Mention

Isaak Hunter, Miller: “Offensively, he was a tough matchup with his ability to play in the post and on the perimeter at a high level,” said Rustlers coach Dustin Lanke. “He demanded a lot of attention and teams would often try to take him out of the equation. His effectiveness as a facilitator and on the defensive end of the floor allowed us to compete and stay in games.”
