NSU men fall to St. Cloud State

ST. CLOUD, Minn. – St. Cloud State pulled away from a narrow lead midway through the second half to collect a 72-59 men’s college basketball win over Northern State on Saturday evening.

The Huskies used seven unanswered points to help fuel a closing surge during the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference contest.

NSU trailed 46-43 before the hosts pushed the margin to 10 points and the Wolves were only able to cut the deficit under double-digits just briefly the rest of the way.

Joshua Book topped the Wolves with 16 points. Simon Akena followed with 13, Marshawn Smith contributed 11, and Benjamin Bowen added eight.

The Wolves, 7-13 overall and 7-7 in NSIC action, will host a pair of games on I Hate Winter weekend at Wachs Arena. Northern faces Sioux Falls at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, and Southwest Minnesota State at 6 p.m. on Saturday.
