SIOUX FALLS – The Sioux Falls West Flyers scored four second-period goals to fuel a 5-2 boys’ hockey win over the Aberdeen Cougars on Saturday afternoon.

The hosts scored two goals in the first three minutes of the period, and then tacked on two more goals to close out the second, the last coming with 44 seconds remaining.

“Too many penalties to start and we were not nearly aggressive enough on the forecheck,” said Cougars coach Dana Myrhe. “Really struggled to control the puck for some reason and gave up way too many shots.”

Paxton Dallmann had a goal and an assist for the Cougars. Trayke Roehrich had the other goal for Aberdeen.

Andrew Weisenburger had 33 saves for the Cougars, who were outshot 38-19 in the contest.

“That’s a team I think we could beat if we play the right way,” Myhre said. “Just need to be more disciplined and way more aggressive on the puck.”

Aberdeen is on the road again today, playing at Brookings.
