HURON – Aberdeen Central kept another opponent off the scoreboard Tuesday night. The Golden Eagles extended their shutout streak to four consecutive games with a 3-0 win over Huron in Eastern South Dakota Conference boys’ soccer action.

“It’s impressive. Every game is just a little bit better, a little bit cleaner. They’re finding rhythm,” said Central coach Lance Mohr. “They’re actively trying to get better and they’re seeing the results from that. I’m glad they’re getting rewarded for doing it.”

The contest was scoreless in the first half before the Golden Eagles took over early in the second half.

“We challenged them to finish the game in the first 10 minutes of the second half and we came out and scored two goals in the first minutes,” Mohr said, “and then really gained a lot of control throughout the rest of the game, which was nice to see.”

Central received goals from Tyler Bain, Leo Ventura, and Linus Johnson.

Zander Kuhfeld blanked his fourth straight opponent in goal for the Golden Eagles.

Mohr said the Huron contest has always proved to be a difficult task, because of the style the Tigers play.

“Coming to Huron on a Tuesday and playing has always been a challenge for us,” Mohr said.

He said the Golden Eagles eventually found some spaces they could exploit.

Central, 5-1 on the season, hosts Brandon Valley at Noon on Saturday. Mohr expects another challenge.

“Brandon Valley is always a tough game, because once again they play a totally different style. … We’ll work on preparing for them,” Mohr said.

Huron 0 0 – 0
